The Blog is a think tank. A process of assessing the everyday. Creating a criteria of what can be considered. What is potential art and what is just life. A dumping ground. The blog also houses art that contributes to thoughts and ideas I am interested in at the time.
Morning pages is a method used in this process.
First afternoon walk in ages and it was just what I needed after sitting at the laptop writing most of the day amongst toddler play dates, balloon popping, farts and tantrums. During my walk, listening to music, I was overcome with emotion of excitement of the idea of creating work that is based on mana wāhine. Women embracing each other through hongi (something I am usually uncomfortable with) kai kōrero and just being one with the self and all living and non living.
Fluffy leaves, toitoi, polluted river beds, asian woman singing with her speaker in full bloom. Tide out but coming in as waves collapse into dry sands. Nodding and smiling, busting to go, I squat under a tree. Felt quite free as I thanked the trees for keeping me modest-like.
